In 2002, it granted the Tioman Island a Duty Free status.

Most duty free shops are available in Kampung Tekek. Including cigarettes and liquors are extremely cheap and readily available in the duty free shops at Tekek. There are several duty free shops that sell duty free products  for you to bring home to their loved ones. There are also duty free shops at the airport in Tioman for you to buy souvenirs to take home. Perfumes and chocolates are also available here, in these stores.



PKNP (Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Pahang) provides a number of Duty Free shoplots to serve more products to be sold to tourists. They are located in front of Persona Island Resort, Kampung Tekek.  Internet service also available there.
