BUS

If you are from Kuala Lumpur, in order to get to Tioman, you can take an express bus from Pudu Raya Bus Station to Mersing. It is a 6-hour journey. The express buses that ply the route of Tioman-Kuala Lumpur are TRANSNASIONAL and SUTERA. A one way ticket to Mersing should cost you RM22.00-RM24.00. As for travellers from Singapore or Johore, you can get your bus tickets from Larkin Station, Johor Bahru. The journey from Larkin Station takes up 2 ½ hours.The express buses that operate the routes of Johor Bahru to Mersing are CEPAT EXPRESS, SS EXPRESS and JOHARA. A one way ticket to Mersing from Johor Bharu should cost you RM10.00-RM20.00.

DRIVE

If you plan to drive from Kuala Lumpur, take the Yong Peng exit and then drive until you reached Kluang and continue until Mersing. You will reach Kluang within a 5 ½ hour drive. If you are driving from Johor Bharu, you take the Skudai exit and drive straight to Kota Tinggi and continue until you reach Mersing. It is approximately 3 ½ hours to reach Mersing from Johor Bharu.

Once you have reached Mersing, there are several ways that can get you to Tioman Island. Travellers can choose either using the speed boat or the ferry. Speed boats are faster and the journey will take about 55 minutes to 1 1/2 hours. Whereas the ferry takes about 1 ½ hours to 2 ½ hours. Both mode of transportations differ in the time of journey as it depends on the sea conditions of the day. For your information, the ferries and speed boats leave either from Mersing Jetty, Johore or Tanjung Gemok Jetty, Pahang.
