Trekking

If you want to walk to the neighbouring kampungs (villages), you may do so. You could walk to Kampung Tekek and the walk takes about half an hour, Juara (2- 3 ½ hours depending on your level of fitness) or Salang (70 minutes). It is advisable for you to go by boat to these kampungs/villages such as Genting, Paya, Mukut and Nipah, but if you insist on the walk, you will need a local guide to bring you there. If you enjoy nature, trekking to the waterfall is something that you might want to do while you are on Tioman Island. Not only you will enjoy the invigorating walk but you get to know more about the flora and fauna as Tioman offers a variety of species of plants and animals

Tioman offers species of plants such as the Rafflesia, a variety of plants and ferns, snakes, insects, mouse deer, porcupines, monitor lizards, turtles and many other creepy crawlies. For bird watchers, you may want to bring along your binoculars as it will be a worthwhile experience for you to see a variety of birds on the island. During the months of November until March, you may get to see migratory birds such as white heron, pelicans, wild geese and many other bird species as these birds stop over at Tioman Island to rest from the blistering winters of their countries.
